One positive: the salsa and margs are delicious. The negative: everything here is unflavored, greasy, and unauthentic Mexican. People say Colorado is a melting pot so it's hard to please everyone's Mexican tastes (Tex-Mex, etc) but having family from Mexico, and knowing how to cook some fine Mexican food myself, this place is just awful. I ordered the cheese quesadilla appetizer as a meal, the quesadilla was nothing but cheddar cheese in a tortilla. No spices, no variety of cheeses, and it was 1/4" thick. The salsa side was delicious, but the "guacamole" aka smashed avocados was a huge disappointment. No seasoning to be found here. They don't split checks, so plan on bringing cash. The morning after, I'm feeling incredibly sick. Save your money and digestive track-go to the Loop in Manitou. The manager is really the only reason I gave 2 stars. Nice gentleman with longer hair in a ponytail, very welcoming.

Where to begin, first off it has to be one if the only Mexican restaurants that actually charges for the chips. Then the salsa is set on the table in squeeze bottles that have not been cleaned in quite some time. I ordered the carne asada tacos , they had no flavor whatsoever not too mention they have nothing but onions sprinkled on the meat. I requested some cheese and sour cream to try to help the flavor but of course they want to let you know there is a charge for cheese and the sour cream . Lastly the margarita was beyond strong , I don't mind strong but when you have to wait for the ice to melt to be able to drink there is a problem, this is probably why they limit you to only two drinks. This was my first and last experience here, I would not recommend it to anyone .

We had a groupon, so despite the poor reviews we gave Jorge's a chance! We did order the $3 chips, and have to say they were just average. Mexican restaurants should never charge for chips and this felt like a rip off. We order two high end margaritas, and they were completely worth their price as for flavor and alcohol content. Jorge's will only serve two per customer and it was obvious why! Excellent margaritas. We had one beef fajita plate and one combo plate, and they were both very good. Our service was fantastic even on a busy Friday night. We asked for gluten free corn tortillas and like another reviewer said , the waitress brought flour, but no harm because she quickly returned with corn when asked. We really enjoyed our dinner at Jorge's, although $53 for a Mexican dinner for two is high, so we would look for coupons and not order chips in the future. The management should consider changing the charging for tortilla chip policy.

Love this place! The best Colorado style Mexican food in Colorado Springs hands down! Sorry, chips and salsa aren't on the house... But you'll get over it. The margaritas are a bit dangerous, don't have more than two. Some special recommendations from a Jorge's lover: shrimp cocktail, menudo, bean and chicharrone burritos with "half and half" green chile (which means half mild and half hot chiles mixed), enchiladas tejanas... I could basically list the entire menu. Try it!

Everything that people don't like about this place, we love. I think it's difficult to judge mexican food in Colorado, because this state is a melting pot of so many different people from different places. Mexican food varies depending on where you originate from. Some folks really like Tex Mex out here, and for me personally being from California, I don't even know what that is. So, with that said: I love Jorges. I appreciate the fact their salsa is kept in the fridge and in a squeeze bottle - I do not care if I have to pay for chips and dip. The chips are homemade corn tortilla chips - always hot. The salsa is always spicy and fresh - and refrigerated. Food: -Everything we've had here is good. I love their carne asada taco plate with rice and beans. Generous amounts of carne asada - tender and lean! No fat and perfectly seasoned. Be sure to drench them in that delicious salsa!!! Service: -GOOD. We always have the same server, Robert. And, he's excellent! He goes above and beyond for us everytime and we love that he gives us great service without being at our table every 30 seconds. Yet, our drinks are never empty, and our table is never dirty. We like Jorges.

I love the Jorge's in Pueblo, so was eager to try this location in the Springs. Must say I'm kind of disappointed in the food...margaritas are good, but I'd recommend other places over this for Mexican food.

Very disappointed charging for chips and salsa what a rip off. The server had the worse zits on his face it made me not want to eat I am talkin big puss filled zits all over. My friend said he had the shits the next day and I thought the food was bland and tastless it was like mexican food made by a bunch of white guys with no flavor I recommend to any one not to eat there. Try taco bell it has more flavor and way cheaper.

We had been in Jorges prior to the remodel, and the service was horrible. We have also been at Jorges in Pueblo, and the service and food were mediocre. We came in at the insistence of our friends, who have been coming back to Jorges since the reopening. The remodel of the restaurant took almost a year, which is unthinkable in such a competitive town. The remodel went down to the foundation. The new walls are painted red, and very gaudy, with a starkness that I can't quite enjoy. The interior is very loud, and the remodel should have included some acoustical wall panels. They charge full price $9 for a margarita, a Gran Tivo, which is Sauza Conmemorativo and supposedly Gran Marnier. The bartender explained that they use "Grand Marnier" type liquor. Instead, there seems to be no Gran Marnier present in the house. They use "Gran Gala," instead. Come on - premium prices demand premium liquor. We always sit at the bar in a restaurant, and order our food there. The interesting view of the evening was the bartender. She would put every margarita in a blender with ice, and barely hit the "pulse" button, creating a shaved ice effect. She was also very accurate in the estimation of her drinks. She would hand pour three margaritas into a blender, add ice, pulse the blender, and her measurements would come out EXACTLY. No need to doctor the drink or add ice to any of the glasses. Unbelievable. She didn't have any help, such as a bar back, etc., and was extremely busy. She had to hand cut every lime for every drink, rather than have them pre prepared, and have an industrial lime cutter in the house. On the other hand, the bartender didn't quite have the grasp of operating the point of sale computer while inputting meals, etc., which required assistance from one of the senior people. I ordered a combination that included a taco. I like my tacos on flour tortillas, or "White." The menu even boasts that white tacos are "Jorge style." So why then was I charged $1 for a "substitution? As it was, I ordered my combo not smothered, with chili on the side, but alas, it was served drowned in some weird looking brown substance, which I assume was chili. I would have loved to sample their food. Anyway, the manager very reluctantly took my meal off the tab. And how about all the extra charges for chips and salsa, charges for substitutions, extra charges for takeout containers? Come on, people, all supplies are tax deductable. It's like paying a mechanic for his use of shop towels when he fixes your car. Cheap, cheap, cheap, looking like the owner of the bar is downright greedy. I don't think we'll be back, we prefer the Loop in Manitou.

I have been eating here since it was Henri's, and have really enjoyed the food since Jorge's took over, and which I used to love to get in Pueblo. But the last time I was there the service was so bad, in spite of the great margaritas, I will never return. Yep, that bad! They coulda been a contender.

The Best Mexican food in Colorado Springs! Don't miss this great place in Old Colorado City on the west side of Colorado Springs. Be sure to try the Horni Presidente Margarita!

Jorge's is a pretty average Mexican joint. The margaritas are really boozy-- so if you're going for a drink that packs a punch (and maybe sacrifices a little flavor in the process), hit up Jorge's. I had the tacos, which were pretty tasty (sort of unique in that they're fried into little pockets that almost end up looking like calzones). For appetizers, my group shared chips and salsa (as other reviewers have mentioned, these aren't complimentary-- and I have to say they're not good enough to pay for), guacamole (just okay), and cheese dip (please note this is not queso-- it's gluey and Velveeta-like-- you'll need a spoon, because if you dip these thin chips, they'll just break off in the cheese glue). The ambience leaves a little bit to be desired-- it's fairly stark, and the decor is inauthentic and generic. This was a great place for a large group however (big tables, spacious, not too loud), and I'd go back to drink and hang out with friends.

-5 stars. My husband and I met our friends at Jorge's last Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 and we ordered a Steak and Shrimp Fajitas to share. Our friends ordered an oyster appetizer as well. Our entrees arrived and ours was completely wrong. They delivered a chick

Pretty decent Mexican for Colorado Springs. Recently returned, after the year-long closure for renovations, and I have to say the old dingy place had a lot more character and charm. The new re-do makes the place soulless and has a very stark, empty feel to it, kind of like a Mexican Cafeteria almost, with the tables being spread miles apart, and blank walls with no artwork (maybe they are not done fluffing the place up yet.) Anyway, the menu and food quality is the same as before. I like their fried white flour chicken tacos. Salsa is good, but the chips are standard, and don't seem worth the $2 price tag (should be complimentary for this type of quality). Otherwise, an "ok" option for Mexican on the Westside.

  • Geoff A.

Great service, average food. Ambience: Recently remodeled to a nice clean cantina-style. Unfortunately the bare floors, walls and wooden tables reflect sounds really well, so you'll hear every conversation in the place. Service: Second to none. Management and staff are obviously trying hard to please. Food: Meh. Large quantities but nothing special for flavors. Large margaritas but again nothing amazing. I turned down the offer of chips and salsa and I would have been very annoyed to find out that I would've been paying for them as this was not made clear. Most places will give you that for free. I had a beef burritos which I got smothered in red sauce - a very strange one which was more like gravy than anything the red chile I expected. Price: Well priced. More than enough burrito for $7. On a par with Amanda's Fonda up the road which is to say you can find better in the Springs.

This restaurant was terrible. One of the worse experiences I have ever had for multiple reasons. First when we asked to have our bills separated into three the waiter said "Only one bill." Literally, that was it. No explanation of there policy of one bill per table or apologies for the inconvenience. As we did not understand we said it two more times with the same response "Only one bill". Finally, when we asked why the waiter explained it was their policy but we could pay separately. Annoyed we agreed. Then we had $10 margaritas with little taste other than tequila, bland food, and chips and salsa that you had to pay extra for! After a thoroughly disappointing meal. We received our bill. Asked the waiter to separate the bill for us and he said he could not. We explained to him that he had told us we could before and we expected the same. He then made up an excuse saying he only has two minutes to ring out the bill so he can't. I asked for a manager which he ignored. I had to ask over five times before finally he said fine. The manager was very friendly, separated our bill and treated us with respect. We would have left and brushed it off as a waiter in the wrong profession. Until he came back to our table to yell at us and tell us we were wrong and breaking policy and it wasn't his fault. If you choose to go for the over pried margaritas and bland food I recommend not sitting in Christopher's section.

Jorge's has made me a bit of a Mexican food snob...and honestly I don't even understand what that means. The atmosphere is really comfortable and fun. The food is absolutely amazing and reasonably priced especially when you consider its location in Old Colorado City. If you go there and don't try one of Jorge's famous margaritas you are seriously missing out on one of the best "adult treats" in the area.

Ehhh, average food.... And yes, no chips and salsa. I won't come back. The food was very bland and hard to describe. I got the pork burritos with avocado. I love avocado, but there was something just off about these, maybe not ripe? I don't know, but it wasn't good. The chili that they put on top of everything is muddy. Kind of a flavorless mix of chilies that really just make the the flour tortilla shell rubbery.

We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon, and for a fairly empty restaurant we received very poor service. The food was bland and severely overpriced for the quality. The "medium" green chili on my chicken burrito was more like a very mild green chili soup, and the chicken was very dry. My husband's stuffed soppapilla was equally unimpressive. The service was slow and on the verge of neglectful. Furthermore, the waitstaff were wearing t-shirts comparing Jorge's margarita's to "chi-chi's" (which translates to "tits"), which I found rather distasteful and offensive. All around a big thumbs down. We will not be back.

Had delicious tacos that were corn and fried to perfection! The green salsa is mild but has a great flavor. Would go again!

Visited Colorado Springs for the first time and stumbled upon this place. What caught my attention was the business sign outside "Authentic Mexican cuisine." Let me start by saying that as a native Mexican, I've NEVER seen a good AUTHENTIC restaurant use cheddar or mozzarella cheese. I ordered green enchiladas and what I got was 3 rolled tortillas that were drowned in mozzarella cheese and topped with watered down goop they called salsa and with pork meat. Nowhere in the menu did it say that dish had meat. The food was horrible, tasteless, visually unappealing and just plain nasty. They don't serve authentic Mexican food so don't be fooled. If you want Tex-Mex with better flavor, go to Taco Bell. Also, it's way overpriced! Every other true Mexican restaurant offers free salsa and chips while you wait for your order and here I had to also pay for that.

To call this food bland is an insult to bland. It's also an insult to food. Horrible service, terrible food. I'd rather lick the pavement in front of the restaurant than eat what's inside.

Ordered a soup. It was fabulous. Just make sure you ask for buttered toasted bread to accompany the soup. Very flavor able and would order again. The wait staff was on edge today that's why I graded it down one star. Service with enthusiasm just wasn't here this visit.

  • Sarah L.

When they ask if you want chips and salsa say no. They charge $5. Rip off. Food isn't really that good and the margaritas are strong but too sweet.

I was traveling with the family and stopped by this place for a quick lunch. I have NEVER been to a Mexican Food restaurant that charges for chips and salsa before. For our group of 7, we had to request that the chips be refilled three times, sitting with the empty bowl for five minutes in between. Service was slooooow; it took more than 20 minutes for our food to come out after ordering. Someone in my party had requested corn tortillas instead of flour due to a gluten intolerance, and they came with flour. My carnitas plate came with only two tortillas, and the meat was dry because it was sliced instead of shredded. This place could be a great candidate for Restaurant Impossible, but we won't be dining before checking yelp again.

My family and I took my dad here on Father's Day a couple of weeks ago, I was unimpressed and unsatisfied. First of all, I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that charges for chips, Jorge's charges $3. The chips were good, nothing to write home about though. I ordered Jorge's burrito with chicken, if a place has a menu item named after them you'd expect it to be one of their best right? I certainly hope this isn't the best they have to offer. The burrito was 95% chicken, it hardly had anything else in it. This might sound good to some, but the chicken was virtually flavorless. The "hot" green salsa on top of the burrito was mild by anyone's standards, I forgot it was even there most of the time. The service was mediocre at best, several of us had empty water glasses for 5+ minutes. After the meal we wanted the check split and the waiter told us only one check is allowed per tables, I have a feeling he just wanted his automatic gratuity since there were more than 6 of us. Next we tried to just divide the check evenly 4 ways, 3 of us paid with card and 1 with cash. A minute later the waiter comes back saying the system won't let him use cash. We end up splitting it 3 ways and having to settle this mess amongst ourselves. The worst part of this is that Jorge's is located in Old Colorado City where tourists and locals go to experience unique things and take a weekend retreat. Jorge's doesn't deserve to be in this location, their mediocre Mexican food shouldn't be showcased in such a great location. I'm sure if they were located somewhere else they wouldn't be in business anymore because they wouldn't be making money off of all the unsuspecting tourists.

Extremely disappointed!!! I always believe a good judge of an excellent Mexican restaurant is to sample their house margarita. It was terrible!!!! (On the Rocks with no salt) I ordered what I usually order when trying a new restaurant so I can compare accurately to other restaurants I have eaten at. Chicken Enchiladas, my favorite!! There were mediocre at best!! The tortillas were stale tasting and the red sauce on top tasted like a cheap red enchilada sauce out of a can. They meal came with rice and salad. You had to pay extra if you wanted beans. The rice tasted like cheap minute rice with some red sauce on it and the salad was a couple strands of lettuce on the side of my plate. I asked for some sour cream, which I had to pay $3.50 for, OMG! Ridiculous!!! They didn't bring me any chips when I sat down, so I asked for some. I was told it would cost me $3.00. I ordered some chips and they were fair, the salsa they gave me to dip them in was good. Overall, this place is terrible and I wouldn't go back!!! Outrageous to charge for chips and salsa and the prices for sides like sour cream were ridiculous. Don't waste your time, you could get better food out of the frozen food section at the grocery store!!!

We had an excellent meal at Jorge's! My steamed chicken enchiladas were excellent! What a great spin on a healthier version of a standard dish. Husband had the Roberto burrito. He loved it and took half home for another meal. The guacamole was top notch, one of the best I've had in a restaurant. I always judge a Mexican Food restaurant based on their guacamole and I wasn't disappointed. The margaritas, OMG! They were amazing. Our food came out of the kitchen fast and hot. The only improvement we could see is maybe a bit better training for the wait staff. We did sit for a while waiting to place our orders and our waiter seemed a bit distracted. Based on other reviews, Jorge's is actively working on this and maybe just needs a few kinks worked out. Overall, super good and we will be back!

Ugh. This is the fourth time I've been to this lackluster place. I really doubt I put myself through such a mediocre experience again. From slow, inattentive service, to completely wrong drink orders, this place isn't worth the effort. The salsa is bland with a hint of salt. They served our chicken tacos and rice with no silverware and no residual warmth from the preparation. Even paying our bill was an effort.

This is an authentic Mexican restaurant with friendly, competent staff. Jorge's was recommended by a local store owner for lunch. The chips and salsa were excellent although we had an "incident" where I squirted my wife's arm with the salsa squeeze bottle. After she got over her shock, we laughed so hard that we were almost in tears. My wife highly rated her shrimp tacos and I found the beef enchiladas deliciosa. Could not pass up the 2 for 1 margaritas. They were tasty. Consider this restaurant next time you're in Old Colorado Springs.

    (5)
  • Heather H.

The only reason I won't call the food bland is because it was doused in salt. Plus the cheese in the enchiladas were rubbery. No thanks. The service was good, though.

I'm surprised this restaurant is still a functioning business. It was by far some of the most disgusting food my husband and I have ever eaten. "Mexican" food, my ass. Authenticity is a word that should feel insulted in regards to every aspect of the food. Still being so disgusted years later, I've felt the need to write a review. First off, the place is huge and the young/inconsiderate employees were ample and seemed as if they would be prepared for a flood of customers. Not so much. We were two of very few customers in the huge place and we ordered chips and salsa in the meantime because the stellar staff seemed to be really occupied in deep conversation about their hair, new shoes, etc. Once our delicious chips and salsa were presented to us, they had to had to have microwaved up some chips from a bag and proceeded to "squirt" our "salsa" from a ketchup-like bottle into a takeaway sauce container you'd get to put a condiment like ketchup in. Ketchup may have been a better accommodation to our "chips" since it wouldn't be masking itself as salsa. Even better was when lunch arrived. My husband's chorizo was the equivalent of Alpo dog food. Heck, I think Alpo would've been better. Maybe some Fancy Feast? Needless to say, we paid for the chips and salsa and the disgusting food (upon which was boxed for our pets and who we decided shouldn't eat such garbage even though they do fancy in eating their own poop) and headed down the road to another place. A place that was worth our money and intestinal fortitude. Jorge's was vile, pricey and a waste of money and chewing. Go get something else down the street because OCC has tons of great food, just not this place. Sucks I have to pick a star. If you fancy yourself a feast, head on down to the local grocery store and hunt down some delicious pet food varieties in place of this.

We love authentic Mexican food. This place is incredible. I had Jorge's Burrito after a long day outside feeling hungry. It was all I could handle, including hot chili sauce over the top. Rose had the chicken Taquitos. Our service was phenomenal. After spending the day outside we were high maintenance for fluids but they more than kept up with us. Authentically local. Authentically Mexican. Try Jorge's.

It's Cinco De Mayo so of course I had to try out this Colorado Springs Mexican restaurant. The reviews weren't stellar but my family recommended this place so I decided to give it a try. Yes, the chips and salsa are $3 a pop but I think this is a good practice for a nation with an extreme obesity issue :) I skipped as I was dining alone and knew I would fill up on them alone. There are about 6 margaritas on the menu which vary based on mix-ins (cranberry juice, raspberry purée, red bull, etc) not the type of tequila. I went for the buy one get one free Casa Margarita and wasn't disappointed but not particularly wowed either. The service was excellent - I was promptly seated and greeted by not one but two waiters making sure I was taken care of. Five stars for service and friendliness! I ordered Roberto's burrito (smaller version of Jorge's burrito) with red sauce and rice and it was good. Nothing exceptional, but not bad either - good Mexican and delicious. I'd come here again!

Very good food, authentic twists on typical fare. Very nice wait staff. Excellent pork tamales with green chili on top. Huge portion of tender and well-seasoned fajitas.

    (4)
  • Oskar H.

Good location; good service. Ambiance, not so good because floor, walls, ceiling are all either concrete or plaster so the place is a noisy echo chamber, even when only a few tables are occupied. Which is somewhat typical. Because the food is . . . disappointing. They don't even do garden-variety US Mexican very well. The principal seasoning ingredient seems to be salt. EVERYTHING was way too salty, and lacked any other discernible flavor. Won't go back. No, they don't even bring complimentary chips and salsa. How lame is that?

Wonderful experience, Jorge has a wonder atmosphere, and very good service. Britney our waitress was delightful. The food was delicious and we all had more than we could eat. I was surprised at how expensive the side order of guacamole was. They charge for chips and salsa too. but we had a wonderful time good friends, good food, and fantastic margaritas!

I was very excited to try this place, I heard from many friends the food was delicious and boy were they right! Guacamole was fresh, the drinks were amazing our entrees turned out perfect. The service? Mmm you might need a drink or three to get through the experience. The bartender didn't greet us, ask how we were or if we had questions. She looked annoyed and rushed us as she asked curtly what we wanted. We waited at the bar until our table was ready but the service in the dining hall was no different. Our server didn't greet us, ask if we have questions on the menu and also just straight up asked what we. It took our waitress 10 minutes to get guacamole and chips and 15 minutes for water. If The service of Wal Mart and Comcast had a baby it'd be Jorge's. Do yourself a favor and get take out

The decor looks rustic and probably the only thing that will grab you is the fact that they have a good piece of real estate in Old Colorado City. I suppose this is one of the places that get their business mainly from tourists and not much from regulars. Its nothing more special than regular Tex Mex. One friend said her chicken tasted funny. As the other reviewers have stated, the chips and salsa are extra or as they prefer to put it, they give you the choice of paying and don't add the extra cost to the menu prices. However, they were no less expensive than any other place that has much better food. One of the reasons I go to Mexican joints is specifically for the chips and salsa, so it was a bad way to start off the meal. I won't return. Instead of this place, go to Amanda's Fonda, not far down the road, or Jose Muldoon's on Tejon.

I am *very* new in town and still on the prowl for delicious Mexican food - Jorges delilvered pretty well. The Good: GREAT margarita, good location (r/t the historic district), good food (7-8/10), and very attentive and polite staff. Also, there is bar seating, which I always think is cool for some reason. The Bad: Chips and Salsa aren't free (which for many people is a huge downfall) and no cheese sauce on anything (it was extra). I'm from the South and every Mexican restaurant where I'm from chips and salsa is standard (and free)....cheese dip is extra, but at least it exists. I've learned that out West that's not always the norm (i.e., in California, when you ask for cheese dip the waiter will go "What?" Maybe that's why we're so fat as a group down there, lol). It's not an absolute favorite, but I would definitely eat there again!

It seems more integrated now after the remodel. It's walkable from home, but their food is a below average. I would never go there just for the food.

I have spent 40 years looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant that comes close to Casa Manana in Santa Maria, California. Jorge's in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is it! Chips, salsa, chile rellanos, enchiladas, tamales, it's all great! And the margaritas are the best I've ever tasted. I've got a new favorite!

    (5)
  • Jonathan B.

The food was edible. The chips were very good. Overall, it was completely unremarkable and not worth it. If you're going to charge me $3 for chips and salsa, they'd better be the best I've ever had. Yet, they weren't. Although the flavors at Jorge's were pretty good, the overall meal was not good. The sauces had an OK flavor, but the consistency was almost gelatinous. And the plates were soupy. I've had much better for a whole lot less. I wasn't grossed out, but there are much better Mexican places in the area.

First time I went to Jorge's was when I was about 16, and it was good then...too bad it's gone south over the years. I was in there yesterday with some friends. It was just after the lunch hour, so there were just a few tables in the restaurant. We walked in and weren't greeted by anyone, so I walked up to the bar and had to ask if we seat ourselves. We did, so after that it took more than 5 minutes AGAIN for us to be greeted. We ordered, and my friend ordered a 2-taco combo (one chicken, one beef) - to which the waiter said there would be a $1 charge to substitute a meat, even though they were the same price on the menu. Okay, that's fine. He also ordered 'no tomatoes' on the tacos - not too complicated of an order, but both of the orders had tomatoes...returned what I thought was mine and turns out, the waiter even screwed up who got what plate... gave me the chicken/beef tacos (w/ tomatoes) and gave my order to my friend. Not happy, won't be returning. Jorge's lost an almost-decade-long customer yesterday.

Best Mexican food and margaritas in town. Great green chili sauce with tasty pork. Awesome service from Jessie too. And we're from Texas so we expect great all around.

Quesadilla was horrible. Tasted like shredded, unseasoned, boiled chicken and had way too much cheese. It even had a bone in it. My girlfriend ordered a frozen margarita that was horrible then tried the house margarita on the rocks that was minimally better. Charged for chips and salsa which is ridiculous. High notes: bottled beer was cold and chips weren't stale.

The food is usually pretty good, today it just tasted bland, No flavor at all. There is also an "ick" factor in here as well. We watched from our table as the cook prepared food. He wasn't wearing gloves, and he was eating something - grabbing the food, sticking it in his mouth and licking his fingers - all the while making food for other people. Gross! This has health department fail written all over it. Not sure if I want to come back if this is how they operator in the back.

I absolutely loved this place when it was Henri's. Now that they've changed names, they've changed for the worse :-( They buck the trend of other restaurants in town and make you pay for chips and salsa. And the salsa is more like a tomato paste hot sauce. I guess I like to remember the good old days when the service was good and the food tasted like homemade. This place has gone downhill, and that's the best thing I can say about them. Too sad.

The best margaritas in Colorado Springs. Arguably the best margaritas in the state! I recommend the Grand Tivo and a designated driver. If this place had up how do you it would be even more amazing. there is better Mexican food in the area but it will do. After one of their margaritas anything will taste good!

This is the place that I highly recommend to people when they ask for an authentic southwestern Mexican restaurant with excellent green chili. I grew up in Pueblo, which has the best Mexican food so my standards are pretty high. Some of the other places in town such as Salsa Brava, Jose Muldoons and On the Border are not bad, but I enjoy the authentic Mexican food of Jorges. I recommend anything from the menu. In particular, the stuffed sopapillas, carne asada burrito and the smothered green chili hamburger are my favorite items. Everyone that I recommend this restaurant to always come back to thank me.

The salsa is in a ketchup bottle and the beans are from a can. On the bright side they do have a friendly staff.

I loved the Jorge's in Pueblo and was so excited that I did not have to drive all the way to Pueblo for my FIX anymore. OH BOY!!! Was I ever wrong....... The difference between the two places is night and day. This one in Old Colorado City needs some serious help. I ordered the Shrimp Enchaladas. The sourcream sauce was so overpowering that I could not eat it. I just couldn't do it. My kids stuck with the basic of the Jorge's Burrito and they were happy. The menudo was not well made and very bland. The service was OK but I see in the future something else occupying the space if they don't get their act together soon. It's not bad, and the prices are decent but to charge for chips and salsa is outlandish.

I came here from out of town. Being from Pittsburgh, we only have chain restaurants. The service was good, the corn chips and salsa was good. The margaritas were good and cold. I had the sopapilla with chorizo and the hot green chili. Very good. I'd come back definitely. Only thing, vegetarians beware! Nothing is made without meat, so be careful. Cheese enchiladas are the only thing u can order other than a tossed salad. Over all, good food and service!

Two words: No Bueno 1. Charging for chips and salsa is cheap 2. Carnitas were horrible 3. My friends thought their food was horrible too I don't mind paying good money for good food. I could forgive the charging for chips and salsa if the food was even good to excellent, not even outstanding.

OK, day two in beautiful Colorado Springs and we are hungry for Mexican food. We just can't get that damn TexMex out of our system. Being from Dallas, it's just a way of life....... :) So, checked out Yelp, of course, and found the highly rated Crystal Park Cantina in Manitou Springs, another town (but what we would call a suburb of the Springs). So, we set off...... only to get there and find they are CLOSED on MONDAYS!!! UGH! It's April Fool's Day and I believe we are the fools this week! So....... having been to the Springs many times before, we head off to Jorge's in Old Colorado City and are delighted to find their door open. But, that's about where it ends. In the past, Jorge's was a fun, raised clapboard floor, very casual diner run by Jorge himself. We remember having great conversation with him and his staff and, of course, buying the "teeshirt!" When we entered, everything has changed. They have expanded..... gone was the clapboard floors and it now looks & feels like any fast-food-type Mexican chain restaurant you would walk into. And, the food and drink....... not so good. I had a "skinny" margarita that was awful, even after adding some Equal to it. The ratio of liquor to lime juice was off and it was mostly tequila. Now, don't get me wrong - I like my drinks on the stronger side, but if I had drank the whole thing I doubt I would have been walking out of Jorge's. I had chorizo enchiladas that supposedly comes cooked with onions (you have to request no onions, which I like, and is backwards from what we normally see) - but unfortunately the chorizo was very dry and there were no onions to be found. The dish comes with rice and salad (no refried beans) and I have never figured out what I would do with a dry salad with my food. I just avoid it...... Hubs had "dry" shredded chicken burrito. Neither of us enjoyed our meal and there will be no return visit. Oh so sorry, Jorge....... have you sold the place and left town or did you just change things for the worse??? :(

Jorge's is by far my favorite Mexican spot in Colorado Springs. I love the shrimp dishes and the chili rellenos. By far the best house margaritas around!!! Make sure you get there early they are always super busy.

It seems my experience here was so similar to other Yelper's. The ambiance is similar to a typical Mexican restaurant in the fact that it's a designers nightmare. The bright colored walls, rustic dining room tables and random wall ornaments comes together as only a "authentic" Mexican restaurant can. The service was top notch!! I was so impressed by our server and the other staff that came to our table. Our order was taken promptly and our (paid for) chips and salsa came to our table just after our drinks arrived. I have to say I was completely disappointed that we had to pay for chips and salsa, and once we got them...I was pissed we paid for what tasted like stale bagged chips. I felt so robbed that I wasn't expecting much out of their food. But before I get to that. I ordered the house margarita on the rocks and I was so impressed that I had to ration it during my meal or else I woulda called a taxi due to buying 3 more. The ice was so finely shaven that it appeared to be a frozen margarita at first but the small shavings was a great addition. The food arrived and was SMOKIN hot!. I personally loved that my number 3 combo was smothered in enchilada sauce but I can assume that some people out there would not approve. The one tortilla that came with my meal was a sorry store bought flour tortilla....I was pissed!! But once I cooled down I dove right in to the chile relleno and was stoked that they finally got something right. The beef tamale was pretty good but nothing to write home about and the cheese enchilada seemed more like a cheese patty but it's a good thing I like cheese. All in all I would definitely come back for a margarita and knowing what I know about some of the food it will be easy for me to navigate the menu and get something that is spot on.

Went here because of a Groupon. First the good - the food was really good. Ok, that's the extend of the good. Now the bad - this is the first Mexican place I've been to where they don't give you complimentary chips/salsa. Had to buy it for $3. Ordered the house margarita - was surprised that they were $8 each. They were very good - but $8 ea??? To top it off, our server was horrible. It's hard to describe, but it was like he 'had an attitude'. We sensed it from the moment we were seated. Since it was the first time there, we asked what he recommended. His reply - anything with chili sauce. Not really that helpful, but that answer didn't surprise us. He never came back to our table to ask how things were. The food was good, but not good enough to go back. Glad the Groupon gave it to me at half price. Would have been a little ticked to pay $40 for a couple of burritos, chips and 2 margaritas!

Quaint little place that charges extra for chips and salsa. I mention it because this is a new concept for me. Seems popular in Colorado, as this is the 2nd place I encountered to do it. I think it's cheap. It's also cheap to charge for to go containers. They do this as well. It's a business expense they are passing on to me that I don't appreciate But the food was good. I had the combo plate, which seemed to have a bit of everything. OMG, the cheesy goodness; the fresh taste, the wonderful flavors. It cancelled out my negativity for being asked if we wanted chips and salsa, like it was complementary, and then seeing that we were charged for it. And then they waited until the end of the meal to bring the warm spapilla with cinnamon and honey. NOM to the max! Mom also enjoyed her dish. Lots of locals having lunch and the atmosphere was much like any place you might find in Mexico. I'd go back! Note to Jorge, be sure to include your address and phone number on your to go menus!!!!!!!!!

I only gave Jorge's a two (instead of a one) because I had been there before and really enjoyed it. That just changed. We walked in to a half full restaurant to be greeted by a rude woman. We than continued to sit and wait for service. Finally a gentlemen brought us some water, and I.asked him for chips and salsa. Still, 5 minutes went by with nothing. I tried to ask a different gentleman for help, but he looked at me and walked away. We walked out and went across the street. Not sure what happened to them, but won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
